Our cover by Jurgens and McCarthy shows Firestorm battling some random robot, being blasted by some random energy beams. If it weren't for the computerized coloring, I'd say this cover was straight from the '90s. Jurgens made his name with Superman in the early '90s, and he never changed his style in the following decades.
Anyway, we don't care much about this cover or this story, frankly. Kid Flash only appears on the final page of this issue. (I almost skipped this, but since he does technically speak, I felt compelled to cover it.) I'm not sure if this story takes place before or after Death of the Family, but in either case, Red Robin, Kid Flash and Solstice are in the penthouse, reviewing footage of several "Nuclear Men" that have been sighted all around the world. Red Robin reports that there seems to only be one Nuclear Man now, but the trail of destruction he's left behind is concerning. Kid Flash asks if he's one of the bad guys, and Red Robin stoically says they need to find out.
It's rich that Red Robin would get all worked up about Firestorm almost taking down an airliner and destroying a test missile, when he's standing right next to Solstice, who literally cut an entire aircraft carrier in half. Also, this has nothing to do with Harvest. Tim Drake explicitly formed the Teen Titans to confront that specific threat and rescue meta-teens. I think it's fine for Jurgens to want to bring in the Teen Titans as guest stars, but he needs to find a better reason than having them randomly decide to start investigating Firestorm. It's also downright laughable how huge and broad Kid Flash and Red Robin's chests are.
Next time, we'll enter the month of February, beginning with Smallville: Season Eleven.
